No people with disabilities are just trying to live in normal housing where they can get it. They penalize disabled people that are also mortgage owners. Even though a person worked earned a mortgage became disabled later. Finally i helped change the legislation in 2021 so they can no longer lien people with disabilities mortgage. People with disabilities are very much in hard times and need all the help.

disabled people promised $200 increase a month projected for June 2025. Gate kept by having to apply to 3rd program for disability support. Instead of adding to existing programs coalitions, food bank Canada advocating for solutions, as Good chunk of people at food banks have disabilities + living in legislated poverty. no fault of their own. by June 2025 budget can be dumped and remade and started over with dropping this promise to PWD with zero help.

That is sad Jen. I didn't realize there were so many homeless disabled people lost in the cracks. I always figured they were sheltered in the low income housing. Carney talked a good game during his speech last night about making sure ALL Canadians will be standing strong and helping each other, but we all knjw hiw cheal talk can be.

Hey, I was not attacking you at all. I think we are all a little upset about what is going on all around us in our country and with our neighbours next door. I am sorry if you took my comment the wrong way. Politics is a hard topic to discuss - everyone has an opinion and that is the way it should be. As long as we all stand united when it really matters, that's what counts. Take care.

I never realize the Toronto star as a reference would get such a reaction to invalidating my entire experience as a human in Canada. Thanks for the supportive responses to recover this feed. I really appreciate the kindness to help. Politics are hard to discuss because we are all impacted by the results. I'm desperate for a better Canada. I'm fighting in all the ways I can to help the others who are also struggling. As i supported people with disabilities and at risk youth for over twenty years in my career. Those people have been abandoned by the liberal party. Ask the liberal party when the disabled will be able to not live in legislated poverty. Then it will be truly a liberal government and not picking and choosing who gets liberated.

Thank you. I am a very liberal person myself.i used to be a liberal voter But I feel the liberal party let our country slide into disparity. It's impacting my life and I'm struggling to get by because of it. I have read alot about this guy Carney and his general vibe to me is worrisome. I am a full believer in people being liberal and being able to be who they are and get their needs met however they present as being a humans and being able to love who they love. Getting medical support where they need. However i also see the financial despairity and weakness Canada has slid into and I'm sliding into and the liberals haven't even supported people with disabilities yet at all through a pandemic.. still through the pandemic till now disabled people have not gotten a dime of help. They have left them/me behind this entire time with no help. It's why over 50% of the homeless are people with disabilities now. That has to change.

@anthony You're 100% correct that politics can be a hard thing to discuss, and that it can lead to arguments. I just made this post to inform people of who our next Prime Minister is, I didn't mean for it to start an argument or upset anyone. I don't know much about Mark Carney myself. @adrennajenn I am sorry if you felt you were being attacked, that wasn't my intention, and I can only hope it wasn't anyone else's intention as well.

I think everyone just needs to realize not everyone’s politics are the same, that is a key reason for almost all arguments online. I am sorry you felt attacked, nobody should feel that way and I would never want to be a reason for that myself. I tend to stay out of political conversations because just posting how one thinks about a subject, policy, or person in politics always goes wrong. I am about as far Liberal as you can get and I think there should be more social programs, better housing programs, better cities policy’s for biking and non car traffic, and more equality for all, and I know people who think that way way feel the need to attack others, and same with the other way around. I think making a rule in a group like this to keep any political talks focused more towards how it will effect global politics and policies for trade and how it will effect the tariff threats is the only way to keep it calm. I don’t have the answers and I don’t think anyone does at this moment. @naturegirl @adrennajenn @riverluna @goldegearz Edit: as a note I think a thing to remember is don’t just respond to something like “um that’s a bad source!” But be more honest and just have a conversation about the contents. We are all human and we should focus on specifics we agree with and not trying to push against others. I myself will be reading all the links posted, as I know nothing about the subject or person.

Stating i based it on one articles opinion and then comparing it to right wing followed by stating they care about the state of our country like I don't was a bit much for me today. I am very worried for my future and the future of the country. The liberal party has made my life impossible to afford and find it concerning that anyone thinks the liberal party will be different. I mean I obviously hope for a better future.

This is definitely an open space to discuss. I don't think anyone was trying to attack you, were just wondering why you felt that way. It's okay to not like a certain politician. Everyone has their own opinions and feelings

Please don't state you care about the state of our country like the rest of us don't if we don't agree with you. It's the whole purpose we all came to hey cafe. And other similar decisions.

Are you a home owner and what is your interest rate at? Then ask yourself if you think a banker is looking out for you right now

https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/questionable-claims-pile-up-conservatives-attack-mark-carney https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3911lv1pzko How many reference locations would you like? that this man will not reveal his finances. By the time he is in office it's too late. If you think a banker has regular people's interest in mind you should think again. Look what banks are doing to everyone now.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I certainly won't base mine on a newspaper article in the Toronto Sun, which is a very conservative based media source, kind of like Fox News is to the Maga crowd in the USA. The Liberal party needed a new leader, and now Carney is it. I do care about the fate of our country and hope that whoever wins the upcoming federal election that they put Canada First and in my humble opinion, that person is certainly not Poilievre and the Conservative Party.

I don't like any of the liberal candidates so I'm not sure i am helping at all. I don't want a liberal government. It's what got so many Canadians in crisis now. Here is an article for example quoting Harper's statements about Carney and might I add isn't it nice to be able to post news on this place? Thanks hey cafe https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/mark-carney-and-the-truth-dont-seem-to-know-each-other

Why do you say this? Just curious about your reasons for saying that you don't trust him.....I think he is the right choice for the Liberal party out of the 4 candidates that were in the running.
