I have been using Bitwarden as my password manager. As my subscription is expiring soon, I decided to try 1Password last night. If you're a student, you can get a free one year subscription through GitHub Student Pack.
My brother did exactly that where he would give random names like in the file f32infyohm832iflnu.txt was an encoded phrase that was a hint to decode the password in the random mix of text below in that document. Now he uses 1Password.
Written down passwords are fine in my view, the threat actor is not going to break into your house to learn your YouTube password. Some security folks hate it but I think it's better than 1 password that you use over and over on every service by a LOT.
I also use a digital system. It is called passwords.txt. But there is a plot twist... All the password and usesrs are wrong!!! The right ones are in the nopasswordshere.txt
Seconding on using 1Password. I've been using it for over a year now and it has worked extremely well. There's an app for basically every system too to be able to use it.
